American Farmland Trust believes in thriving farms and ranches. AFT protects agricultural land, promotes environmentally sound farming practices, and keeps farmers on their land. It is the only national agricultural organization of its kind recognizing the connection between land, practices, and farmers. Because of AFT, millions of acres of farmland that otherwise would have been converted out of agriculture remain in farming, and tens of thousands of farmers and ranchers have adopted better farming practices.
AFT believes that every farmers market in America is special in its own way. Big or small, in cities or rural towns, farmers markets nourish their communities while helping local farmers, food makers, and artisans thrive. AFT helped start several farmers markets and founded the annual America’s Farmers Market Celebration™ (AFMC), which raises awareness of the essential markets across the nation making a difference for farmers, ranchers, and communities. During this time, market shoppers and supporters can vote for their favorite market by visiting the AFMC website, and the top markets will receive a prize and national recognition.
